Sermon: Vainglory Part 2

Pride is essentially competitive by nature, finding pleasure not in having something but in having more of it than others, as C.S. Lewis explains in his analysis of vainglory or "empty glory." This second part of the walking in the gospel series explores how our tendency to seek prominence, acceptance, and affirmation from people drives us to constantly compare ourselves to others. The root issue is our desire for praise and notoriety through our accomplishments, which Lewis argues would disappear if everyone became equally rich, clever, or good-looking since it's the comparison that creates pride.
