The Epiphany Sunday message explores Isaiah 53 and its prophecy of the Messiah as both the promised King from Isaiah 9 and the suffering Servant of the Lord. Written 700 years before Christ's birth, this prophecy reveals that the same child destined to rule with justice and bring light to darkness would also face rejection, opposition, and suffering. The Servant accomplishes God's mission through gentleness rather than crushing power, succeeding where Israel failed and bringing healing and salvation to the world.
