The last time and place to make sense of a politician's speeches are at campaign time. They promise anything if they can get ur vote. Wait till they get elected and see how guarded the same tongue gets!

Hmm - I actually took an entirely different view on Joe Biden's remarks (which didn't exactly trip off the tongue in a wave of well reasoned eloquence - but - neither does our current President met that standard).

I think it's more than highly likely that the next president be tested - either one of them. Could be the continuing collapse of the global economy, it could be a resumption of the cold war, it could be a global health crisis. Or a lot of other things, too. And it's just as likely that the response to a next crisis will be polarizing - some will think it is spot on (just as some support the war in Iraq and some don't, and some support he TARP bill and some don't).

So -save for the lack of eloquence, and the hazy definition of "tested" - I think Joe Biden is correct.

The better question to have asked (and then tried to answer) would have been: Given the likelihood of a major crisis - which candidate will earn your vote - and then he should have stumped for why Obama will get his - and the McCain team could have responded.

I'm not sure I understand your comment. Maybe that's my problem.

If the vote accurately represented the intelligent, thought-out, reasoned, individual wishes of 95% of Americans, I'd totally trust it. The problem is that the vote reflects the duped, media-hyped, drunken mob. We are too easily swept up by hype. We are also intellectually lazy (I include myself there).

I'm simply saying that the reasoning I've done, given my worldview, scares me, when I think of an Obama administration.

I'd rather trust in the 95% of Americans than the 5% that control the wealth in this country. Seems like us 95% didn't need a bail out for our greed.

The rich never trickle it down... Well, not money anyway.

Just sounds like you are replacing government (which we can control) for the free market rich, white dude (who we never see and keeps his money in the Bahamas).
